More filters. Sort order. Jul 17, Catrina rated it liked it. I love DK books and the format, but I was a little dissappointed in this book. The layout is fantastic, clear and easy to read. However this really is just a basic introduction or browser encyclopedia of homeopathy. Remedies are in order by type plant, mineral, etc and each item gets a full page layout color photos, clear layout. This is great to know more about how things are used in homeopathy.
Later in the book there is a "self-help" section that covers basic ailments. This is more what I was looking for and what I found is that you can stock your medicine cabinet full of a few basic elements that are introduced here and then use this as a self-help for minor aches and pains. Really understanding more about ailments would either mean using a different resource or contacting a doctor MD, ND, whatever for more individualized evaluation.

This is an excellent reference book for beginners to homeopathy. The pages are laid out beautifully and tempt the reader to begin leafing through the pages right away.
Most common ailments are covered in great detail, there's a largish materia medica and the repertory is extensive and written very clearly. Rosenfeld treats each therapy seriously, yet with a touch of humor, providing a short history, an explanation of how the method is supposed to work, relevant scientific research on its effectiveness for various conditions and, in some cases, an address or phone number for further information. Each chapter ends with an evaluation of the therapy. Occasionally, these are less than helpful.
